A Gamers Nexus investigation found these sets using automatic content recognition to grab screen snapshots and audio, recording and transcribing conversations in the room, crawling your network for other devices, and shipping the data to LG Ad Solutions. They claim information from 216 million TVs worldwide, including 49 million in the U.S. alone. An Apple TV box won’t save you. The only real protection is cutting the Ethernet and forcing the TV to forget your Wi-Fi.
